Butcher’s Crossing marks the second time Nicolas Cage stars as a private detective in his long-running franchise, following 2014’s Joe. With this new film, we learn that Cage has recently given up smoking and adopted a beard for the role.

In a new shot from the forthcoming western flick Butcher’s Crossing, Nicolas Cage seems to be quite the badass. When the star is set to play, it’s merely one of the finest flicks.

Nicolas Cage offers us a first peek at his next western Butcher’s Crossing, in which he plays a pivotal part. The actor has revealed a photo of his character, a buffalo hunter called Miller, who has a shaved head, beard, and a set of haggard, worn eyes that seem to have seen a lot.

Nicolas Cage as a bald, bearded buffalo hunter seems to be just what movie needs right now. Butcher’s Crossing is presently being filmed in Montana. Cage seems to be demonstrating his special abilities once again in the photograph, and the actor’s appearance implies he is on the “award-winning” end of the Cage line-up, rather than the… lesser end.

Butcher’s Crossing, based on John Edward Williams’ 1960 transcendentalist book, depicts the tale of a young Harvard dropout who pursues his destiny in the West and becomes entangled with a buffalo hunting team lead by Miller (Cage). They go on a perilous adventure together, risking their lives as they attempt to gather buffalo skins for sale while facing and surviving the harsh realities of the wilderness. They ponder the meaning of their life in the face of nature’s purposes along the route.

Gabe Polsky, who is also adapting the book with Liam Satre-Meloy, is directing Butcher’s Crossing. “It’s a riveting drama with eternal ideas — a visceral journey that examines human nature’s boundaries,” Polsky remarked. “It’s fantastic that Nic Cage has taken on this great part since he is one of the most dynamic and intriguing performers.”

“Altitude is ecstatic with Butcher’s Crossing’s Cannes debut,” said Will Clarke of Altitude Film Entertainment. “John Williams’ plot is breathtakingly visual, and Gabe’s vision for the picture is spot-on.” Plus, working with the iconic Nick Cage, whose passion and attractiveness are second to none, is a dream come true.”

Butcher’s Crossing is just one of Nic Cage’s many interesting projects, many of which seem tailor-made for his abilities. In the highly acclaimed films Prisoners of Ghostland and The Pig, Cage gave two very distinct but equally bleak performances. Both films excellently demonstrate Cage’s ability to effortlessly switch between the delightfully ludicrous and the more distinguished.

Nicolas Cage will feature in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, a film in which he manages to accomplish both, in which he collaborates with filmmaker Tom Gormican. In the narrative, he plays a fake version of Nicolas Cage, who is forced to accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday celebration of a Mexican billionaire superfan. Nic is forced to transform into a version of one of his most renowned and adored characters to save his wife and children from the hands of his fan, a notorious drug lord, when events take an unexpected turn.

For Nicolas Cage lovers, now is the moment to get serious.
