One Piece is one of the most popular anime series ever, and it’s also one of the longest running. It has a huge fanbase who love to watch the show and play its games. Here are 12 of the most badass characters in One Piece.
One Piece is a long-running manga series that has been loved by many. The characters in this series are very diverse and interesting, with each of them having their own unique personality. There are 12 most badass characters in One Piece.
One Piece is one of the most famous and well-known manga and anime series of all time.
It’s amazing because it’s one of the few programs that really captures the spirit of a Shounen anime.
It contains action, drama, humor, slice-of-life moments, and even a little bit of anime’s “spice melange,” as I like to put it (a.k.a fanservice).
Without irony, it really offers something for everyone. When you combine all of its attractions with some of anime’s most recognizable characters, you’ve got yourself a certain smash.
And when it comes to memorable characters, One Piece offers a plethora.
Even those that are unabashedly badass, like the ones we’re going to go through.
Doflamingo Don Quixote
Doffy has not just a wicked sense of style, but also a wicked sense of humor.
But, in a more literal sense, he’s also evil.
He’s the world’s most notorious black-market weapons dealer/broker, and until his arrest, he was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Whatever you think of him, you can’t deny how cool he looks with his spectacles on, particularly with the arrogant grin that’s nearly always plastered over his face.
He’s clearly one of the most ruthless enemies Luffy has ever encountered.
And, ironically, one of the most difficult.
Seriously, this man isn’t going down without putting up a fight.
Why else would the Marines in Impel Down keep him shackled from head to toe?
Monkey D. Garp, No. 11
Monkey D. Garp, another member of the marines, has a long record of impressive accomplishments.
He is a Marine hero, the father of Monkey D. Dragon, the infamous revolutionary leader, and the grandfather of Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace.
He’s also one of the few marines who was remained on duty during the time when absolute giants like Shiki, Roger, Rocks, and Whitebeard ruled the seas.
It’s not exactly the greatest moment to join the Marines… On the other hand, when is it ever?
To me, what makes him a badass isn’t his strength, which has enabled him to live a long life in a field where young men often die early.
I believe what really distinguishes him is his unwavering sense of duty and fairness, which he maintains while working for a mostly corrupt and authoritarian system.
Dracule Mihawk is number ten on the list.
Mihawk is one of the best character designs in all of Shounen anime, not just One Piece.
From the start, he was billed as the “World’s Strongest Swordsman.”
And, true to his name, he’s as fierce and deadly as anime swordsmen get.
He’s one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, like Doflamingo.
Mihawk, unlike Doflamingo, likes to be alone most of the time.
He’s so intent on maintaining his privacy that he typically travels alone on a (very) tiny ship. He too lived alone in his creepy house until Perona and Zoro arrived.
I’d want to see more of him in future episodes since he’s the typical calm and silent lone wolf.
9. Smoker
In the world, there are only two kinds of people:
There are two types of people: smokers and non-smokers.
Smoker (as his name suggests) is one of the former.
Even while he’s on duty and capturing crooks left and right, he’ll smoke whenever and whenever he wants.
Aside from his casual attitude toward smoking, Smoker is also known as “The White Chase” because he is one of the finest Marines in terms of pursuit-and-capture operations.
Smoker has placed a lot of criminals in Impel Down – and is now serving as one of the Marines’ finest officers to date, with the exception of a few famous pirates like Luffy and Ace.
8. Rayleigh Silvers
Unfortunately, there are just a few instances in the anime that demonstrate how badass the “King of the Pirates” was.
Fortunately for us, Roger’s First Mate, as well as a few other members of his crew, are still alive and well.
Not only that, but Rayleigh gets a lot of screen time, much of which he spends demonstrating to us fans how wonderful a former member of the Pirate King’s crew is.
He’s so strong that even the admirals and Yonko are afraid of him, which is understandable.
After all, the achievements of this guy are no laughing matter.
After being shipwrecked, he swam in the Calm Belt for days on end and didn’t seem the least bit tired when he arrived on land.
And that’s just one example of this apparently ordinary elderly man’s incredible abilities.
7. Kaido
Dragons are nearly always seen as badasses, regardless of whatever anime/movie/TV show/book they appear in.
They’re pretty much the global emblem for “awesomeness,” and the term “awesomeness” comes to mind anytime Kaido is spoken…
He, like the majority of the people on this list, has a prominent title.
After all, he’s been dubbed “The World’s Strongest Creature” and is one of the Four Emperors that have long ruled over the New World.
We’ve already seen how strong this utter monster of a guy really is in the anime – and we’ll undoubtedly see more of the Wano Arc in the future.
6. Zoro Roronoa
He’s the Straw Hat Pirates’ First Mate and unquestionably one of the most fearsome anime swordsmen of all time.
Who else handles three friggin’ swords, after all?
This man has nothing on Kirito and the other dual-wielders.
He’s not just a badass aesthetically, but his actions in the anime give us almost the same narrative, if not more.
Zoro is a devout, industrious, and devoted guy who more than deserves to be Luffy’s right-hand man.
After all, he’s the kind of man who would gladly accept his captain’s accumulated agony without hesitation in order to rescue his own crew.
What a crazed knucklehead!
5. The Trafalgar Act
Since his debut as one of the “Worst Generation” Pirates, Law has been a fan favorite – and with good cause.
Along with Luffy, Zoro, and Kid, he is considered the strongest of the Supernovas.
And it’s no surprise, given that he possesses a Devil Fruit ability that’s fairly powerful.
Granted, he never seeks out battles he can’t win, and he seldom fights out of passion, unlike Luffy.
In my opinion, what makes him a badass is that he doesn’t hesitate to do what has to be done, whether that means brutally chopping up opponents or leaving them for dead.
He’s a quiet but determined guy who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty.
As if you were a surgeon? Heh.
D. Portgas, No. 4
Fire Fist Ace, without a doubt, has one of the coolest-looking Devil Fruit abilities in the game.
When you add in his swagger and mischievous charm, there’s no doubting that he’s one of the most unforgettable personalities who tragically died much too young.
Ace, like his commander, is a very compassionate guy for his subordinates, to the point that he is willing to sacrifice his own life to save theirs.
He was a total badass who never gave up to anybody, even when faced certain and complete loss.
Ace’s flames must have burnt out much too fast, but they were still brilliant and colorful, much like the impression he’s left on our admirers.
3. Shanks
Shanks may have been the Yonko’s newest member before to Blackbeard’s arrival, but he’s no pushover.
Shanks has always struck me as one of the most badass non-protagonist characters I’ve ever seen in anime, right from the start.
He is not only the first character in the series to wield Emperor’s Haki, but he is also the only guy who has ever faced Whitebeard and Kaido without being fazed.
Seriously, he’s so badass that weak-willed pirates would drop like flies anytime he’s in the vicinity.
It’s clear why the Marineford War came to an end as soon as Shanks interfered.
It’s because the Marines didn’t want all that smoke to be directed towards him.
Monkey D. Luffy is the second character in the series.
It would be a crime not to include the protagonist of his own series on this list, and I’m not going to do so.
After all, who can argue with the fact that Luffy is a badass?
No one, I’m sure (or at least I hope so).
Sure, he comes off as bumbling and obnoxious at times — no, most of the time.
Nobody can tell me, however, that this man doesn’t have his moments.
Only when someone is going through a difficult time in their life does their real character emerge.
I’ll tell you what, there’s nothing more badass than an enraged Luffy.
When he becomes serious and angry, particularly during a battle, he transforms into a totally different person.
And I have to admit, his badass appearance in Gear Fourth certainly contributes to that.
Edward Newgate, No. 1 (Whitebeard)
“The Strongest Man in the World” takes the top position.
The Emperor who was feared and revered by the other three Emperors (yes, even in his old age).
The guy whose name made the Marines shiver every time they heard it.
The legend who could have snatched the Pirate King’s throne for himself but decided not to.
As some of you may have guessed, placing Whitebeard at the top of this list was a very simple choice for me.
In my opinion, Whitebeard is more than simply a badass because of his entire deeds and his strong, crew-centered mindset (his team is his One Piece).
In my opinion, Whitebeard is a badass among badasses, having had the finest and most badass send-off in anime history.
